The Japanese Committee for Democracy was first formed long before December 7 for the purpose of solving these problems of both the issei and the nisei, and establishing cooperation and understanding between them and Americans of other races. After Japan’s dishonerable attack on America, we added the work of overcoming the handicap of out status in our full support of the war effort.

We are conscious of the identity of our interests with those of the nation. We feel the necessity of joining our forces with the people of American and liberty-loving people all over the world, in free countries, and in oppressed countries, who are defending the faith of us all.

I feel we must take our stand firmly, and express our feelings and attitude so clearly that we cannot be misunderstood. 

This is no time to sit back in a corner, hoping to remain unnoticed. He who fears pain and dodges responsibility
