The East and West Association Devoted to mutual knowledge and understanding of the life of the Oriental and the American peoples Forty East Forty-ninth Street, New York City May 20, 1942. Mr. Yasuo Kuniyoshi, 30 East 14th Street, New York, N.Y. Dear Mr. Kuniyoshi: As part of The East and West Educational Program, we are preparing a prospectus for a thirteen-week series of radio programs in which every Asiatic nation will be represented. It is thought that two or three programs may be devoted to each of the larger nations, but every country of the Far East will have its own broadcast. Naturally, everything we undertake in this presentation must be authentic. Although listener entertainment is of prime importance in programs such as these, the cultural content must be fairly high. We hope to combine these two factor successfully. But in order to do so, we need information and ideas from you. What would you like to see done on the air when your country is presented? Do you have a special story in mind which, when dramatized, might best typify your country today? Who do you think should be invited to appear on such a broadcast? These are some of the questions I should like to ask you personally. If it is possible for you to see me, a note here stating where and when, will have me at your door. If it is not convenient for you to have me call, would you be kind enough to put your suggestions in a letter. In any case, I shall certainly appreciate your cooperation in this matter.
