Mr. Hugh D. Beach, Radio Director
The East and West Association
40 East 49th Street
New York, New York

Dear Mr. Beach:

I am very sorry to have waited so long to answer your letter which reached me at a time when I was busy moving to the country.

I have thought about the radio program you spoke of but it seems difficult to imagine a radio program about Japan today that would be educational, cultural, and entertaining. Perhaps some story with a historical background that would bring out the sequence of events that led up to the present-day militarism and aggression, and/or what should best be done about Japan after the war--and why, would be constructive and enlightening.

Such knowledge as I have about Japan is probably familiar to everyone, and I feel that any suggestions I might offer have already occurred to you. Thank you for writing me, I wish I could be of more help.

Sincerely yours,
