Dear Mitsu:

Thank you for your letter which was forwarded to me to Woodstock and subsequently delayed in reaching me. Your letter did bring back memories of over thirty years ago and I wish they were as fresh in my mind as in yours. However, as you relate, many changes have taken place in your life as well as mine.

The Japanese American Anthology sounds most interesting and I am very glad that you wish to reproduce Yas' work in the publication. I do not have any transparencies of the works you request and even if I did the owners of two of the four works would need to be written to for permission to reproduce.

I believe I can send you a black and white photograph of the drawing "Sketch for 'Crow and Snake'" and also for the poster "Torture" which was made for the Office of War Information.

The painting "Island of Happiness" is in the Lane Foundation Collection** and "At Work" I believe is still in the Worcester Museum.

I am about to depart for Europe and unfortunately must close the house here and get back to the city to attend to many other things before I depart. I expect to be away for quite a while. I will do my best to send you the above two photos before leaving but I am on a very tight schedule. Too bad it comes at a time when I am so pressed with other urgent matters.

I am sorry to have missed you when you were in the city last May. I would have liked to see you. California friends rarely turn up in N.Y.C. Please give my regards to old friends when and if you see them.

With all best wishes for the success of your project,

Sincerely,

** The address I have here in Woodstock for William H. Lane, The Lane Foundation is Holman St., Lunenburg, Mass. 01462
