Dear Mr Kuniyoshi

As a contributor to Ayumi, the Japanese American Anthology, you have probably been wondering as to the status of the book. Please excuse us for not communicating with you in such a long time.

During the past year, the "final" printing costs rose above the level of our funds. Only recently did we secure enough funds to pay for most of the printing costs.

The book is now at the printers and is in the process of being printed. We expect them to deliver the complete book to us during the early months of 1981.

As soon as we receive the book in-hand from the printers, we will contact you about the publication party. If you are unable to attend, we will mail you your copy.

We have expanded the format of the book from 9" x 9" to 11" x 8 1/2" and over 300 pages in length. The graphics section is 32 pages in length, half of which will be in color plates. The Issei section, the largest section in the book, includes both the original Japanese and an English translation. In the future we plan to publish a Japanese language supplement of selected Nisei and Sansei works.

Publishing this book has been an experience that members of the Japanese American Anthology committee will not soon forget. We are looking forward to the publication date and book party and hope that you will be able to attend and celebrate with us and members of the Japanese American artistic community.

Sincerely yours,

The Editorial Board
