Dear Mr. Kuniyoshi;
First, I wish to extend my humble apology for being so late in replying to your very kind letter concerning the Carnegie International Exhibition and the selection of representative paintings from Japan.

The subject was immediately placed before our committee which was exulted over the possibility of introducing Japanese art abroad, and which was profoundly grateful to you who are responsible for this. In accordance with your suggestion, we at once, started to collect photographs of paintings which we are ready, at last, to send you. We are sending them by separate cover.

In your letter you also suggested we select about 30 artists. This is a rather difficult task for us to do ourselves because there are so many up and coming artists in Japan. Therefore, we have chose 45 persons who are particularly active in [[strikethrough]] our Association [[/strikethrough]] Japan, and we would greatly appreciate it if you would do the choosing from the photos we have sent you. There are some well known artists whose photos were unable to print in time, but we can assure you the 45 we have sent are most active at this present moment.

In regard to the reproduction of these photographs in America, we would like to grant the same rights as were granted us for the use of the photographs of the members of AEA. This is only a small token of our gratitude for all you have done for us. Please use of reproduce them in whatever way you like. If any income is obtained by the use of them, please donate this to AEA.

We tried our best to be as expeditious as possible but we have to apologize for taking as long as we did. We do hope you will be pleased with the photographs we have sent you.

Yours most sincerely,
U. Ihara
