My dear Mr. Funato:

I am writing you at the suggestion of Mr. Kuniyoshi with whom we of The American Federation of Arts are planning to assist with the preparation of an international exhibition to be sent to Japan under the sponsorship of our company.

We have been studying the methods of preparing the exhibition as well as the cost of the entire venture, and this letter is to inform you in round numbers of what this cost would be.

The total venture would run somewhere between $3,000 and $5,000, which would cover the collecting and preparation of the exhibition, the packaging, transportation both ways, insurance, and final dispersal. It is necessary that such a margin be allowed because of the difficulty in estimating exactly in such matters where the various items are subject to fluctuation depending upon many factors. However, I have gone into this as carefully as possible with our packing and insurance people, and I am slo applying the knowledge of previous experience in such exhibitions sent out of the country.

I presume we shall hear from you further in the matter of proceeding with the plans.

Very truly yours,

Burton Cumming
Director
