On behalf of several Union men, who have been indicted by the Civil Authorities for various offences supposed to have been committed during the war I would respectfully ask for information. Is there any law by which such cases can be removed to the United States Courts for trial? The Grand Jury in several Counties in this District have used their utmost efforts to find true bills against any man, white or black, who is, or has been a Union Man during the war, and where - as is always the case - the Grand Jury is composed of those who were active participants in the late rebellion it is not a difficult matter to do the result is that many men of Union men[[?]] had already left the County, and the few that still remain will be obliged
