Colonel Clinton A Cilley
A.A.G. Bureau R. F. and A. L.

Colonel

I have the honor to submit a report of my action in the case of Smith vs Bryant. On the 1st Inst I forwarded to Capt Hodge at Fayetteville all the papers in the case calling his attention to your endorsement on said papers that his decision would be enforced and sent him a non commissioned officer and six men to aid him in enforcing it. The detail was provided with three days Rations which would have been sufficient but for the fact that no boat left Fayetteville in consequence of the low water. The detail returned this morning.
In order to prevent the necessity of further trouble I directed Capt Hodge to inform all parties that further interference in this case would be punished.

I Am Col Very Respectfully
