To the
Friends Freedmen's Relief Association of Philadelphia PA

Gentlemen

I have been advised to write to your society in regard to procuring clothing for the sick and indigent Freedmen of this District. I have had a large number of applications for clothing from men, women and children who were worthy objects to receive aid but have been obliged to send them away having but few articles that I could issue to them. I have shoes and mens hats, and a few blouses but no other clothing. I believe there will be much suffering among the Freedmen here this fall and winter and any aid that you could render them would be well bestowed. Womens and childrens clothing is much needed.

I Am Very Respectfully
