Lieutenant

I have the honor to submit for the consideration of the Assistant Commissioner, the following case. Complaint is made by Richard Mills (Freedman) that Mr Wm Drew of Brunswick County came to his house in Brunswick County a few days since for the purpose of taking possession of his son Alec and Mr Mills said that the boy Alec had been bound to him by the County Court at Smithville. The Freedman Mills is a very respectable man who is fully able to support his family and he had no knowledge whatever that the Court was going to take his child from him. I would respectfully recommend that the Indenture be cancelled.
