Action

On complaint of Abner Williams freedman to recover shares of crop raised on plantation of Harper Williams in 1865

Pros. presented paper marked (A) being statement of Abner made before Col. A Rutherford at Wilmington N.C. May 22nd 1866 and sworn to be true before H H Lister Asst. Supt. &c this day

Samuel Williams Freedman being duly sworn says "I don't know whether Abner worked on Mr. Harper Williams plantation last year or not. I know that he went to Genl Lowry for advice Cross. Ex by A.J. Williams QM and Attorney of H Williams
Q. "Did the defendant desert the plantation at any time during the year 1865 and go into the interior"
Ans. "He did not"
Q. "Did you, or not repeatedly see him on the plantation during the Spring and Summer season
Ans. "I did"
