In compliance with instructions I have the honor to state that I attended the late term of the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions of Sampson Co. N.C. The name of the chairman of said court is Richd C. Holmes residing in Clinton Sampson Co. N.C. The name of the Solicitor of said Court is Lucian Holmes residing in Clinton Sampson Co. N.C.

There was only one freedman charged with larceny which was clearly proven though a slight offense and he received one lash. There were 36 cases of Bastardy 33 of which were against freed persons

The above is all of importance that relates to Freedmen
