I have the honor to state that the wreck of the Iron Steamer "Flora McDonald," is lying on the bank of the Cape Fear River in Bladen County. I am informed that this boat belonged to the late Confederacy, having been purchased from the Cape Fear Steamboat Company and that she was used as a supply boat by the Confederate Government. I cannot find that this Boat has been used by the U.S. and believe that she has been overlooked. The fore hull boilers &c are probably worth two or three Thousand Dollars. I would recommend early attention to this case as the people of the County are carrying the iron away.
