Bureau, Wilmington N.C.

Dear Sir
The bearer of this Churchill Wynne a man of Color has had some mules taken from him
He is a most excellent negro and has as good a Character as negro I ever knew. He is universally spoken well of by all his neighbors  He had some assistance to ask of you which I hope you will grant  He needs it and deserves it
Anything he may tell you you can rely on. I have known him all his life
