Gen Rutherford. Dear Sir,
I received your note of the 30 of April stating a report from Gabe Stringfield (colored) requesting mee to state to you the facks in the case I will stat to the fac that Gab farmed with mee last year and the Crope was divided sattisfactery to both and I rented him land in february to farm and this year again he has failde so fur as doin eney thing a tors farming yet thar is not More than five or six acres work dun on the land a dun on the land as yet Gabe stated to you that he has not lost but three days Work from the farm this spring he is actily not bin doing eney thing a tors farming but he has wasted his time in strotting a bout throw the naborhood And all so I wanted Gabe to enter in to [?] obligation but he refused to do so Gabe stated to you that I had not paide him eney thing thair is not eney thing dun to pay for I owe Gabe nothing a tol but Gabe is due mee the res of $8 dollars this is my statement about the facks  Gabe is staying on on my place and I can't even per saide him nor git him to do eney thing A toll for his own good and he is [dossing?]
