August the 3, 1868 Head quarters of the Freedmans Bur I Joseph Griffin freedman is living on the primisses of F.A. griffin land wich has by some means fel out with me & has ordered me to leave his place I setle on his land in the woods & cut down the first stump that ever was cut I am living in about one mile of his land and was once a slave under him and I want instruction from you to no what to do I am ignorant of the facts I have improved the land rit smart & has bilt a Dewelling house & in corn crib & kitching on the place & has clard some three akers of land he has bin mad with me ever since I voted for the convention & I have done nothing to him nor sed nothing to him nor his famely that he should order me of his land. so I will say no more.
