NARA 496

Bladen Station Oct 19th,, 1868.

Mr. Rutherford.
Dear Sir.
I have opened my school again at Bladen Station. [[21+?]] members, at-present,-thirty nine (39) Scholars, and in a few weeks in - will exceed Seventy-(70). The School house is in very bad condition for the winter; if something is not done towards repairing I will not be able to teach in it. I hope you have been successful in what you promised me. If so you will augment my interest much to send in as soon as Practicable, for their was never a person in my life when I need more help than now.
The people, in this vicinity, are very poor. they are not able to maintain their children at School neither to purchase books for them.
