costs against him, he (Sam) would hire to petitioner his son, Jack Wright, a young man under age, at $5 per month, until the termination of 12 months - both parties then estimating the Bill of Costs at about $60.

Your petitioner, who is a very poor man, pitying the said Sam, and needing help in his cooper's shop, became bound to the Sheriff for the Bill of Costs aforesaid, and Sam was, accordingly, discharged from custody. At the expiration of two weeks from Sam's discharge, he sent his son, Jack, to labor with your petitioner, as he had signed to do, and Jack continued in petitioner's service for one month only. Sam has taken Jack away from your petitioner, in violation of his agreement, and as he has no estate whatever, he is neither worth the Bill of Costs, nor a Lieut to enforce the contract.

Under these circumstances, your petitioner will innevitably lose the amount of the Bill of Costs, unless relief is afforded him. To this end he respectfully petitions that you will issue an order to the said Sam Wright, commanding him either to pay and satisfy the Bill of Costs immediately or to return his son to your petitioner's employ.
