I am compeled to set a matter between myself & Mr. John T. Moore (white) near this place before you I hope you will attend to it & see that I have justice as I cannot get it done me here. I have worked hard ever since I have been freed & have been wronged out of my labor every harvest which has cause me & family to suffer 
In the first place I entered a farm from Mr. Moore he was to furnish all & I was to have the work done & we were to go halves in every thing. he was to furnish my hands with provisions if necessary he furnished some & charged 25 cents pr lb. for pork (spoilt) for corn $1.75 pr. bu. he also employed laborers in my crop for which he has me charged 75 cts & board pr day & employed them without my knowledge or consent. he has me charged $5.00 dollars for a plow he also employed my hand in his own crop for which he will not give me credit. the above
