March 17'th. 1868 Sarah Jane Walton, (White) Complains that her brother in law Thomas Walton, come near her house in Brunswick County some two weeks ago and carried off her Son Charles, who was at the time barefotted and with scarcely any clothes on. She also states that there were two other persons with Walton. Joel Robbins and Phillip Tebo. They carried the boy to Hun Creek on the Smithville road Action Wrote to Walton requesting him to deliver the boy up to its mother. He refused to comply
