as wall hangings, depict again the image of 'four walls'. In addition, there is a collection of conical shapes set on circles titled 'Moving Home'. The circles resemble wheels, sewing hoops or embroidery frames. At certain angles the sculptures resemble a pair of scissors. Perhaps they allude to a way of cutting bonds. The work is brilliantly inventive, sardonic. Exploring familiar, homely objects with sensitivity, the artist brings to light the subtleties of the female psyche.

Future plans include further exhibitions next year in Pakistan and India. Zarina does not primarily work to exhibit. And she is in the happy position of sometimes politely refusing offers; this includes most group shows where, she feels, the individual is lost. And she is already mentally planning her new series of

work. Drawing now, while the impressions are fresh and strong, she will work on the prints in Santa Cruz early next year. The new work will be a dictionary of the geometric forms used in the artist's work. She plans to focus on the square using a simple grid. Nuances of the 'magic chart' of a 'taveez' will be echoed in vertical and horizontal lines. These prints will be larger than those of the portfolios, but like them will doubtless become discerning collectors' items.
