Arrival To Be Sponsor At "Relief Wings" Affair

Mrs. William A. Moffett, widow of the late Admiral Moffett of Washington D. C., arrives here tomorrow to be the guest of Mrs. Dorothy Lee Ward, Allison island.

The purpose of Mrs. Moffett's visit is twofold—she will be one of the sponsors of the "Relief Wings" mercy ball being given at Ben Marden's Colonial inn tomorrow, and she will be on the scene when her son, Charles Moffett, graduate of U. S. Naval academy, "gets his wings" Monday at Opa0Locka. Mr. Moffett will then be stationed on the U. S. S. Lexington on Florida's west coast.

Benefit Party To Be Staged For "Relief Wings" 

Benefit parties this season have reached a new high in entertainment for Miamians with the announcement of plans for the huge party to be staged at Ben Marden's Colonial Inn Friday night. This event is for the benefit of "Relief Wings," an international organization dedicated to a civilian program to use airplanes for humanitarian purposes in war or peace time disasters, at home and abroad. Proceeds from this benefit will go to the aid of American and Chinese aviation. 

Miss Ruth Nichols, well-known aviatrix, is the executive director of this organization, with Miss Ya-Ching Lee as director of the Chinese division. Miss Lee is the only Chinese member of the America's exclusive "Caterpillar Club," and has been active for the past few years in the worth movement.

Sophie Tucker, Harry Richman, Joe E Lewis and Paul Whiteman will head the entertainment features and the regular show will be presented at this benefit party. Style show presented by the Chester Hale ensemble will highlight the fashion scene. 

Heading the Greater Miami Regional Committee, who are sponsoring this "Relief Wings" benefit are: Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Barton, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Buswell, Mr. and Mrs. William Danforth, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gannett, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gifford, Mr. and Mrs. Steven A. Lynch jr., Mr. and Mrs. Daniel S. Mahoney, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Merrill, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sykes, C. L. Clements, president Chase Federal & Loan Association: Mrs. Dorothy Lee Ward, chairman Patrons Committee; Patrons committee; Henry L. Dougherty, Colonel Gimbel, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Adams, and Mr. and Mrs. Sayre Wheeler.
