China Grateful For U.S. Help, Pilot Reports
Nation has built vestpocket industries, she relates

Miss Lee Ya-Ching, Chinese aviatrix who is acting as a goodwill ambassador to the United States from China, said yesterday that, in spite of war, China has built new roads in the interior, developed its aviation and radio communications, moved its universities to the west and built up a system of "vest pock industries." She was guest of honor at luncheon sponsored by Buffalo Chapter, United China Relief, Inc., in Hotel Statler.

She expressed the gratitude of the embattled Chinese for aid given by relief organizations here.

James G. Blaine, national chairman of the United China Relief, Inc., who addressed the group, declared that "as we value our freedom, we must help the Chinese preserve theirs."

He said that "the personal freedom, the objectives that we strive to uphold are the same ones China is fighting to keep."

"The national government, under Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek, has adhered, even in wartime, to the election of a representative government and the continuance of democratic ideals," he told the audience. "In one of the most magnificent acts of all history, China has stopped the Japanese along a 2,800-mile front. She moved her people westward, built new highways and continued the education of her youth."
