Star, Aviatrix Here For Show
Glamor Girls To Act In 'Fun To Be Free'
Two of the glamor girls who will appear on the "It's Fun To Be Free" program starting tonight at the St. Charles theatre, Michele Morgan, French actress, and Le Ya Ching, Chinese aviatrix, came to New Orleans by lane for the occasion, Miss Morgan arriving Sunday and Miss Ching this morning.
Miss Morgan has just completed her first American picture for RKO entitled "Joan of Paris," and is an ardent worker for the cause of the Free French. The 21-year-old actress came to this country last year, and since leaving her parents in Dieppe, France, she has not heard from them.
Petite and hazel eyed, Miss Morgan speaks excellent English, and disclaims any romantic attachments. She will go to New York from here to attend the premiers of her first American starring vehicle.
In Opening Program
Miss Morgan will appear on tonight's opening program, which is dedicated to Free France, Holland and Belgium. She was greeted on her arrival at the New Orleans airport by her manager, Terry Turner, Walter C. Carey, general chairman of arangements fo the production here, and Mrs. Carey.
Miss Ching will appear on the Tuesday night's program with Anna May Wong, Chinese-American screen star. Miss Ching acted as official good will ambassadress from the Chinese government to the New York World's Fair, and has made a solo flight to the principal Central and South American cities. She was in New Orleans in April, 1939, and is the only woman member of the exclusive American "Caterpillar club" made up of flyers who have had to bail out of their planes. She is staying at the Bienville and Miss Morgan is at the Roosevelt.
