Stars of the operatic world turned out in force for Opera Day at the center on January 19. The above group consists of, first row, left to right: Miss Eleanor Steber, Miss Anna Kaskas, Miss Patsy O'Shea, President of the Children's Division of the American Theatre Wing; Mrs. Walter G. A feature of the activities at the Uptown Information Center on Thursday, January 22, was the capping of the Nurses' Aides, a view of which is shown above.
A feature of the activities at the Uptown Information Center on Tuesday, January 20, was the reception to Mr. Thomas W. La-mont, Chairman of the Advisory Committee for the Red Cross War Fund. To the left is a picture of a group of those present at the reception.
Wives of South American Consuls General were among the guests present on Thursday, January 15, which was dedicated to the Conference of Pan American Ministers which opened on that day in Rio de Janeiro. Four of the wives of Consuls General are shown in the group to the right, which includes Senora Phoebe Q. de Traverso, of Argentina; Senhore Antoinetta Correia, of Brazil; Senora Juste R. de Hartmann, of Bolivia, and Senora Maria Plaza de Duran-Balleu, of Ecuador.

Demonstrations of artificial respiration and other types of first aid were features of the activities in the center. Above, Miss Jane Watson is shown preparatory to commencing artificial respiration.

First aid instructors demonstrate how it should be done. Miss Anna B. Morrison, patient, and Miss Margaret Starke, shown to the right, are  first aid instructors from the Central Harlem Health Center. The Red Cross Nurse, to the left is Mrs. Harold C. Lincoln.

Representatives of various countries were among those present on Allied Day, which was held in cooperation with the Legion of Alien Volunteer Blood Donors for National Defense. The above group picture was taken at the reception held on that day for the foreign blood donors.

Girl Scouts from various parts of the city visited the center on Saturday, January 17. They gave demonstrations in first aid and watched the demonstrations given by various corps of the Red Cross. Above is a view of many of t e Girl Scouts present at the center that day.
