THE DAILY PANTAGRAPH, BLOOMINGTON, ILL. THURSDAY, APRIL 16, 1942.

China War Relief Dinner Scheduled at 6:30 Tonight

G.J. Mecherle To Play Host At Benefit

Guests at the United China Relief benefit dinner at 6:30 p.m. Thursday night will eat a "rice dinner," hear two speakers, then be asked to contribute, if they wish, to the war relief's national drive.
The two speakers are Miss Lee Ya Ching, first Chinese woman to win a pilot's license in her country, and M.N. Brady of Chicago, regional chairman of United China War Relief.
G.J. Mecherle, Bloomington territory chairman for China relief, will be host to the diners. Bloomington territory has been asked to contribute between $3,000 and $4,000 to the national campaign to raise seven million dollars for China war relief.
Because China has given large funds to America for relief work several times, and China's part in the present war is vital to the war program of the United States, Mr. Mecherle has urged that each person give as generously as possible to the cause.
The money collected in the United States will help rebuild the ravages of war in China.
