An Unusual Woman

China's flying ambassador of good will to the United States, Miss Lee Ya Ching, who is to speak at the Community Y auditorium this evening under the auspices of United China Relief, believes that women have a vital part to play in this war.

"We women must just do the best we can, and that is a great deal," she said in perfect English, her dark eyes sparkling, as she was interviewed by Grace Miller Rosenthal. The interview appeared in The Christian Science Monitor. The Chinese aviatrix spoke in Boston on Tuesday.

"The thing is not to fuss about it, but just go out and do it," said the Chinese woman. "The trouble is often that we talk too much and nothing is accomplished."

Miss Lee Ya Ching's home is in Hong Kong, but she has spent some years in the United States. One aviation company loaned her a plane to use on her trips. Then another company gave her a plane outright. This indicated the impression she has made throughout the United States.

Miss Lee was the first woman of any race to obtain a license to fly in Switzerland, where she took flying lessons at Geneva nine years ago. After she had her pilot's license, she heard of the Boering School of Aeronautics in the United States and determined to attend it. But when she presented herself at the school and said she wanted to take the advanced course in instrument flying, dynamics and radio, she was told it was impossible-that no woman had ever been able to complete the course and many men had found it too difficult. But she insisted that she be allowed to try. The officials finally consented. Miss Lee still has the distinction of being the only woman to graduate from the Boering school. That's the kind of person she is.

Miss Lee might be called fittingly the Amelia Earhart of China.

Alien Evacuation

We have been hearing about evacuation of enemy aliens from the Pacific coast back into the interior of the country, to eliminate the possibility that any of them might carry on [?] activities which would give [?] or airplanes off the
