To the Colonel of the Bureau of Refugees Freedmen &c
Wake Co Raleigh

Dear Sir some two [[strikethrough]] week [[/strikethrough]] three weeks ago I was at your office to see you concerning my children which you told me I could hold them according to my statement to you.

Since that time they have been taken out of my possession without my concent. By Mr. Thomas D. Snead. He contends that they wer bond to him by court & he intends to hold them. If they wer bound it was unaware to me at the time of the binding or to my children Neither was I or the children present at the time or notified of the fact. I am old and my children are my only dependace for a support which they are boys & able to earn conciderable wages. One of them are nearly twenty one and the other large enough to do good ploughen.

Without the aid & assistance of my children I am at a loss to know what I shall do for a support for myself.

Colonel I refer the case to you which I am in hopes you will assist me in holding
