Captain,
I have the honor to state that your of the 22d ult. came to my office during my absence from this city. This will account for my delay in replying. As there are some mistakes in the manner of drawing up the vouchers you sent. I cannot collect the money on them Till these are corrected. As soon as practicable I will send them to you for the necessary corrections. But as I must leave tomorrow to be absent a week & perhaps two - some further delay seem unavoidable.
