Capt Curren  I received your letter of 15th. you waten [[wanting]] to no why it was that I kep Lenney Godwin child the child was lawfully bound to Rubin Perry before the war and when Gen Sherman Armey past she took them home and kept them untill about the last of feb last Mr Perry went to Goldsboro and got authority from the Buro to go and git them back. the child is here on his farm so I have nothing to do with her child only to se that she is well treated, Mr Perry lives in Wayne County, but if you wish to address him rite to Boon Hill Your Obedient Servant
