Bureau Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands,
States of Kentucky and Tennessee,
Assistant Commissioner's Office,
Nashville, Tenn., April 4th 1866

Gen.
There is no news & I only write to ask advice on the following matter. W.F. Henderson whom you probably recollect in connection with letter from Gen. Dodge has been in the office today with Maj. Lawrence who endorses him completely. Mr. Henderson states that he is cognizant of a good many written & verbal leases & contracts which parties in the neighborhood of Cornellsvill have made with the Govt. & for which no revenue has been rec'd. He says that if authorized he will collect them for one half and thinks he can [[net?]] the Bureau from $700 to $1000. I await your answer.

Very Respectfully
H.S. Brown
