April 30, 1940

Mr. R.T. Freng,
United Air Lines
Municipal Building
Chicago, Ill.

Dear Mr. Freng:
When you interviewed me in New York March 6, 1940, you pointed out that I did not have sufficient formal education. I at that time tried to show you that by diligent application at home, I had continued with my education since leaving high school.

However, since then Dr. Frank Carvin of Newark College of Engineering has asked me to teach the Advanced Aviation Ground School, next semester. Now it is reasonable to suppose that if I did not have more than average knowledge of Aviation to successfully teach the subject, I would not be asked to fill such a position.

I offer this information to you for greater consideration as First Officer with United Air Lines.

Very truly yours,

Michael A. Gitt
