General George has asked me to personally ask all of the pilots doing government contract flying for the Army to stay in uniform, and not go around with a hatched-up set of uniform decorations, insignia, etc. He says to please wear what they have and all wear it alike until the changes we are discussing are authorized, and then all

IDENTIFICATION CREDENTIALS
We have had a number of complaints from pilots who fly on the Government Contract Operation intercontinentally about not having proper credentials. They make the point that the credentials they have been issued are not the same as those given to commissioned officers, and, in fact, according to these complaints, several different types of credentials they carry are signed by company officials, and they express apprehension of the outcome if it should ever become necessary to produce such credentials when taken prisoner or in some other way placed in a really dangerous situation.

I recently discussed this matter with General George that all air carrier and ATA influence and participation whatsoever has been washed out of the picture. I am told letters will shortly be sent from the War Department to all air line pilots who hold commissions, requesting their views as to whether or not they would be adverse to going on active duty and, if not, when? This doesn't mean that plans are currently afoot to call additional groups of air line pilot reserve officers to active duty. When this informahas been accumulated in the Personnel Division of the Air Corps, it will then be a matter of having the pilots volunteer, if a certain number is needed. Right at the moment a very small number, less than ten I believe, are needed to go on active duty to complete the organization of an Army Air Corps Air Safety Division. This, as I understand it,
