Sec. 24.

(a) Co-pilots will be given an opportunity to qualify as first or reserve pilots at any time the Company desires provided that all promotions to status of reserve or first pilot shall be in the order of their seniority subject to section 17.

(b) When a co-pilot fails to qualify for promotion as a first pilot or reserve pilot in his proper turn in accordance with System Seniority, his case shall be handled as the circumstances indicate, subject to section 29.

(c) Co-pilots, furloughed due to reduction in force, on return to duty shall be allowed, for seniority purposes, all time accrued prior to such furlough but shall not continue to accrue seniority during the period of furlough. All such furloughs shall expire at the end of one year from the effective date of such furloughs. Re-employment shall be subject to the furloughed co-pilot's passing a satisfactory physical examination at the time of re-employment; and after re-employment the co-pilot shall be required to serve the unexpired portion of his probationary period.

(d) All pilots furloughed from the Company shall file proper addresses with the Company at the time of furlough. Any change in address must be supplied to the Company immediately. Any furloughed pilot failing to return to duty within seven days of notice will be considered out of the service unless a justifiable reason be presented therefor.

SENIORITY NUMBER:
Sec. 25.

(a) Any pilot once having established a seniority number hereunder shall not lose that number except as provided in this agreement.

(b) When a junior co-pilot is promoted over a senior co-pilot, by reason of the failure of the latter to qualify in his turn, the senior co-pilot shall continue to retain his position on the Pilots' System Seniority List.
