for a previous year of service, such pilot shall, upon leaving the Company, be granted vacation pay for such vacation earned and not received.

(e) Upon written request any pilot may be granted two weeks' military leave per year without pay providing Company operations permit.

(f) A pilot when taking his annual vacation shall be scheduled within ten per cent plus or minus of his allowable flying hours for that period (42 1/2 flying hours) and when vacation periods extend into two calendar months, the amount of flying shall be prorated, using as a basis for such pro rata the amount of vacation time received in the respective calendar months involved.

LEAVES OF ABSENCE:

8. Section 21 of the Agreement is hereby amended to read as follows:

(a) When the requirements of the service will permit, a pilot may be granted a leave of absence for a period not in excess of six months. When such leave is granted, the pilot shall retain and shall continue to accrue seniority during such six-month period, provided that during such period the pilot maintains his air line competency certificate, or in the case of a co-pilot, his commercial pilot's certificate and instrument rating.

(b) Such leave or leaves may be extended for additional periods of not to exceed ninety days for each such leave when approved in writing by the Company, but during such extended leaves other than the first leave of the maximum of six months seniority shall not continue to accrue. If, during the first leave of not to exceed six months, the pilot shall permit his air line competency certificate, or in the case of a co-pilot his commercial pilot's certificate and instrument rating, to lapse his seniority shall accrue only to the date of such lapse.

(c) Leave shall not be granted so that the total leaves shall exceed continuously a period of more than nine months without the approval of the chairman of the Pilots Master Executive Council.
