(b) Upon transmitter failure of the plane, it is possible for the "FLOYD BENNET GCA" to direct the plane as above on "blind broadcast" repeating all messages and receiving acknowledgements by the planes performance on the scope in compliance with "FLOYD BENNET GCA " instructions.

General Information

It is desirable that transmission and receiving be made on the same frequency.

Pilots will repeat all instructions received unless, or until, directed to do otherwise.

To minimize errors, unusual words will be spelled with the phonetic alphabet (able, baker charlie etc.)

Radio-telephone terminology

"HOW DO YOU HEAR ME" -- Request readability and strength of signal.
"SEND YOUR MESSAGE" -- I am ready for you to transmit.
"READ BACK" -- Repeat back to me exactly as received.
"CORRECTION: -- An error has been made in this transmission.
"STAND BY" -- Must be followed by "OVER" or "OUT". Next transmission will follow shortly.
"WRONG" -- Wrong. I say again.
"STEER" -- Take magnetic heading----------. (Steer right one zero two degrees).
"AIRPORT" --Airfield where GCA Unit is located.
"HAVE YOU IN SIGHT" -- Have you in radar contact.
"_______ O'CLOCK" -- Position in clock code.
"OPENING" -- "CLOSING" -- "HOLDING" -- Terms used in reporting relative movement of other planes to the GCA Plane.
"STEER RIGHT (or LEFT) IMMEDIATELY TO __________" -- In case of a possible collision course with other aircraft if it is an immediate emergency.

All Navy GCA installations guard 140.58 mc. This is the emergency frequency. This same frequency has been made available to all civil aircraft by the Army Air Forces.
