Section 3036 GROUND HANDLING

B. TAXIING (Cont'd)

7. If pressure gauge reads below 500 pounds when one engine is dead, make sure engine selector valve on hydraulic control panel is set to connect live engine pump to hydraulic system. If for any reason the hydraulic pressure drops below 500 pounds and it is impossible to raise it by shifting to the other pump, the First Officer shall be ready with hand pump to supply pressure for operating brakes. Leave the shut-off valve "OFF". (This shut-off valve is located on the hydraulic panel.) The pump handle will move each time the brakes are applied. About 50 pounds pull shall be exerted on the pump handle continuously until brakes are no longer required. When brakes are hand operated in this manner, no pressure will show on the gauge.

C. PARKING BRAKES

1. To set brakes for parking, make certain there is at least 500 pounds pressure in hydraulic system. Depress toe pedals full down, pull out parking brake knob (on control pedestal), release toe pedals as soon as parking lugs snap into place and release parking brake knob.

2. To release brakes, step on toe pedals. In case of spring breakage, release brakes by pushing in on parking knob while pedals are depressed.

3. The parking brake shall never be put on during flight.

4. If the pressure in the tank is completely down, and it is desired to park or move the airplane without starting up the engines to build up pressure, open shut-off valve and build pressure up to 450 lbs. with the hand pump. Close the shut off valve when sufficient pressure has been built up.
