Section 3051 ENGINE FAILURES
_________________________

D. [[underline]] UNFEATHERING PROCEDURE (CONT'D.) [[/underline]]

10. Since the feathering and unfeathering cycle has somewhat diluted the engine oil with lighter oil on G-102 engines, it will be advisable to restrict the power operation of that engine to cruising power output if feasible.

After test flight feathering and unfeathering of a G-102 engine, the operation of the engine should be limited to fifteen minutes additional flight, and the airplane should be kept in the vicinity of the airport in order to be able to return to the ground within that length of time.

A propeller may be feathered and unfeathered a maximum of three times on any one testflight without diluting the engine oil to degree considered harmful by the engine manufacturer when operated under the reduced power conditions noted above. Since the hydraulic system contains only enough oil for two cycles of operation, it will be necessary to carry extra hydraulic fluid in the airplane if three operations are to be made on one test flight.
