Restore old subsection (f) of section 4, beginning at top of page 14, and strike the entire new subsection (f) of section 4, beginning on page 15 and continuing to the middle of page, 17, and insert in lieu of the new sub-section the following, as part of (f):

"Whenever it shall appear upon the death of a pilot after the enactment hereof that no annuities or lump-sim benefits, or no further annuities or further lump-sum benefits [, or no further annuities other than annuities payable to a widow or parent upon attaining age 65 at a future date,] will be payable under this section , there shall be paid to such person or persons, as the deceased pilot may have designated by a writing filed with the Board prior to his death, or if there be no designation, to the person or persons in the order provided in the first paragraph of this subsection, or, in the absence of such person or persons, to his estate, a lump sum in an amount equal to 8.25 per centum of compensation paid to such pilot with respect to service after June 30, 1949 (exclusive of compensation in excess of $12,000 per annum), minus the sum of all annuities or lump-sum benefits paid to such pilot, or to his survivor by reason of his death, under this Act[; Provided, however, that if a pilot is survived by a widow or parent who may, upon attaining age 60 or 65, be entitled to further benefits under this section, such lump sum shall not be paid unless such widow or parent makes and files with the Board an irrevocable election in such form as the Board may prescribe to have such lump sum paid in lieu of all benefits to which  such widow or parent would become entitled under this section. Such election shall be legally effective according to its terms]."
