If glide path is reported unreliable by NOTAM, a pilot cannot make an approach using the localizer only unless a number two procedure is authorized, which is predicated on the glide path being inoperative. If no number two procedure is authorized and there is no radio range procedure conditions must be VFR or the approach minimums set up by CAA without radio aids.

Temporariy and until further notice the landing minimums for a regular approach on the ILS at Reading, Pa. will be 800-2 day and 800-2 night. This is by company regulation only and in no way affects the legal minimums as presently shown on the procedure plate which was recently issued.

5-5-48 - G. James
In regard to the letter from Capitan Smith dated April 30, 1948 concerning ILS minimums, please be advised of the following: Mr. Henry Bernard of the CAA advises that at no time will a glide path be reported as unreliable since in those cases when doubt exists as to the reliability of the glide path, it will be reported as inoperative.

We are again in receipt of word from the Port of New York Authority regarding the music programs and concerts which are held every summer at the Lewisohn Stadium. They have asked the cooperation of our pilots in avoiding this area and I am sure that all pilots will cooperate. The Stadium is located at 138th Street and Amsterdam Ave., New York, which doesn't mean much to the average pilot. However, if e tell you that it is roughly due west of the five stacks on the island of Manhattan, you will have a better idea as to its location. The concerts are scheduled every evening between the hours of 8:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M., from June 14th to August 8th. It is to the interest of all pilots to do everything possible not to interfere with these concerts. Many thousands of people attend and it would most certainly make enemies for the airline business if some thoughtless pilot flew over the stadium nd ruined a program. We wish to thank you for the cooperation in this respect given by all pilots last summer and trust that this will be a priority item again this summer.

We are in receipt of a communication from the CAA stating that pilots are deviating from the prescribed traffic pattern for LaGuardia Field. Colonial Airlines was not mentioned specifically. However, a word of caution is probably appropriate,
