Subject: Co-ordination of Aircraft Emergency Reports

To : All Local Councils

Dear Chairman,

In the last few months there have been numerous rumors of fires and fire warnings on board aircraft, especially on the DC-6's. Other dangerous potential emergencies probably exist also which would be valuable for your ALPA Engineering Department to know in order to carefully watch the causes of malfunctioning and endeavor to obtain corrective action before a serious accident occurs.

No doubt your air line has a system by which such dangerous items can be reported, and they should be reported to your company. Every opportunity for your company's cooperation should be sought. However, if they fail to view the matter with sufficient consideration it would assist everyone concerned to have the matter brought to the attention of ALP's Engineering Department through your local council so that a check-up procedure can be instigated with the authorities in the least time. A copy of the report sent to your company would suffice for ALPA's Engineering Department's use.

Your cooperation in helping us keep informed as to the emergency operating problems experienced in the field would be very much appreciated.

Sincerely yours,

AIR LINE PILOTS ASSOCIATION
