Position: SUPERVISOR, STATE LETTER UNIT
GRADE 8 - ($3,000 - $4,000 a year, Canadian funds)

Duties: Under general supervision of Chief, Conference Branch, to be responsible for assuring that all communications to Contracting States are in proper form and in accordance with established policy as to language, address, number of copies, etc.; to bring to the attention of the Chief, Conference Branch, questions of deviation from policy in channels of communication and other procedural matters in state letters originating in the Secretariat; to supervise the typing and editing of state letters and to make arrangements for translation and reproduction, if necessary; to maintain appropriate files of state letters.

Desirable Qualifications: Experience in the supervision of correspondence or correspondence review activities; familiarity with the common usage in diplomatic correspondence supervisory experience.

Position: DEPUTY CHIEF, AIR NAVIGATION BUREAU - Two positions
Grade 1 - ($9,500 - $11,000 a year Canadian funds)

Duties: Both Deputies will be primarily responsible to the Assistant Secretary General for Air Navigation. One Deputy will supervise and co-ordinate the activities of the Airworthiness, Operating Standards, Aeronautical Maps and Charts, and Personnel Licensing Sections, including also Accident Investigation and Training activities; he will be responsible for matters of policy affecting Divisional work as a whole, with particular reference to the application of ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices in the foregoing technical fields. The other will supervise and co-ordinate the activities of the Aerodromes, Air Routes and Ground Aids, Communications, Meteorology, Rules of the Air and Air Traffic Control, and Search and Rescue Sections and will be responsible for the execution of established policy with special reference to the application of ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices in the foregoing technical fields.

Desirable Qualifications: Extensive administrative experience in directing and co-ordinating technical aviation programs, in a civil or military administration or with a large airline; general knowledge of the technical fields to be supervised, with specialized experience in at least one of these fields.

Position: CHIEF, OPERATING STANDARDS SECTION
Grade 2 - ($8,500 - $10,000 a year, Canadian funds)

Duties: To serve as Secretary of the Operating Standards Division of the Air Navigation Committee; in this capacity to study and report on operating standards and recommended practice embodying suggestions of Contracting States and international organizations concerned; to study matters referred to the Secretariat by the Division; through correspondence with Contracting States to obtain information on national operating practices, and to make comparisons and report on suggestions for changes in ICAO standards arising from this work; to maintain the necessary liaison with appropriate authorities in the Contracting States and with officials of other international organizations concerned with operating standards

Desirable Qualifications: Experience as a pilot; navigational and engineering training and experience; practical experience in supervision or control of aircraft operations, preferably on international civil air routes.
