To All ALPA Member -2- August 30, 1948

operated by the air line pilots themselves.

It's usually a good policy to have some diversification in your savings and the best time to consider such a move is NOW. When trouble strikes, it seldom gives advance warning. To guard against this inevitable eventuality, it is always a good thing to save at least something each month as a bulwark against the day of need that's sure to come. To save just a little for some extra special trouble is the real McCoy in good judgment. Some pilots have found too that when they borrow from their company Credit Union, too many people learn of their private affairs. ALPA's Federal Credit Union is a place where you can obtain quick, confidential service for both savings and borrowing and certain "helpful busybodies" in your company will not learn too much about your personal affairs.

ALPAFCU is chartered under federal law of the land and although it has been in operation only a short time, it already has over 125 active members and assets of over $20,000. In this short time, it has loaned over $8,000 to its members. The time to take advantage of this opportunity to help provide funds for your future financial happiness is today. Read the attached leaflet and send in your membership card today.

The 9th Convention laid down a hard, fast mandate about setting up a Credit Union and we all know a Convention isn't fooling when it takes an action. Its Credit Union mandate has been followed. The rest is up to the members. Let's all get behind ALPA's FCU and make it a real up-and-coming organization that will be a real asset and benefit to every ALPA member in good standing and a credit to their financial wisdom and foresight. The 10th Convention in November would be happy indeed to have a report on a real Credit Union with real assets in hard cash and a good backlog of interest-paying loans. The rest is up to each ALPA member in good standing.

Remember, don't lay aside the membership card. Send it in today and when you need money, all you have to do is apply for a loan and quick action will be forthcoming.

Sincerely yours,

AIR LINE PILOTS ASSOCIATION
