Jump Seat Belts

In order to keep jump seat belts as clean as possible, canvas containers are being installed on the under side of the jump seats in which to store the belts. It is requested that anyone using the jump seats replace the seat belts in this pouch out of courtesy for the person who will next have to use it.

Permanent Domestic Check Pilot

This will announce the appointment of Captain Marshall B. Woodworth to the position of Check Pilot, effective February 7, 1949. Captain Woodworth is responsible for the supervision of all Domestic pilots.
The present Domestic Check Pilots will be retained for use as such, when needed, but will no longer be responsible for pilots previously assigned them.
We wish to thank Captain Gitt and Captain Rach for the splendid manner in which they performed their duties as Check Pilots.

Pre-Flight Inspection of Aircraft

All First Officers are requested to refer to Operations Manual, Flight Section, Volume I, Tab: Prior to Departure, Page 1, paragraph 1. This is especially important at Montreal and Syracuse where radio personnel do not ordinarily pre-flight the aircraft. Delays were recently reported which were caused by the First Officer failing to make the required radio checks sufficiently prior to departure to avoid a delay.
