Mr. Michael A. Gitt
188-40 B 71st Crescent
Flushing, New York

Dear Mr. Gitt:

So that you may know right off that there is nothing official, ALPA-wise about this letter, I'd like to relate that a friend of mine here in Chicago -- with a printing firm which does some of ALPA's printing, is getting married in New York in mid-May, and plans on honeymooning in Bermuda via Colonial.

He call me this morning respecting the possibility of obtaining passage NY-Bermuda return on Canadian purchased tickets, thereby saving himself the 15% federal tax -- which in this case amounts to about $40 for two persons.

I told him that I wasn't familiar with the procedure, but that I would check on it. Apparently it is an entirely legal procedure, providing the tickets are actually purchased in Canada--and that they need not be purchased by the traveller himself, since a representative of the person to do the travelling may make the purchase.

Which brings up the point of this letter. I'd appreciate word from you as to the feasibility of such a transaction, and whether such tickets could be picked up in Canada through the cooperation of a Colonial pilot--without, of course, placing any such pilot in any form of jeopardy whatsoever....in other words, I imagine some Canadian citizen, or American living in Canada would have to obtain the tickets and space for my friend.

I'm enclosing a self-addressed envelope for you to use in replying. I'd appreciate word from you as soon as possible about whether such a deal could be worked. Upon learning of such information, I can supply the date of departure New York, trip desired, name of travellers, etc. Please let me know soon.

Sincerely yours,

W.W. Anderson
