Captain Herbert W. Huston, Chairman
Council #28 Air Line Pilots Association
Scudders Lane
Rosyln, Long Island,New York

May 26, 1952.

Dear Herb,
In continuation of our discussion the other day [[strikethrough]] in [[/strikethrough]] with regard to the Rad Janas return to active ALPA membership case, I would like you to know that I full appreciate your problem. I realize the importance of being extra carefull that any action taken should be the correct one. Further, I want to take this opportunity to advise you that If I can be of any service to you, you can count on me in any and every way what so ever.

With regard to the ballot you sent out, I feel that I do not fully understand the question. As I understand it, it appears that the Exec. Council has voted Rad Janas out of the organization by refusing his reinstatement to active membership. As a result Janas has asked for a hearing which certainly is his right. Since the hearing has not been held, I don't see just what the question is? I don't see how I can vote on a question that is about to be the subject of a hearing in advance of that hearing being held. Perhaps I am missing th e whole point involved in this case, I certainly am confused.

At a recent Council meeting, Information was requested concerning instances where Rad Janas could be considered as not acting in the best interests of the Association. May I suggest that a carefull perusal of the letters and bulletins that Janas put out to individuals and to all pilots, will show plenty of instances of contract violations. I remember that at different times letters were sent and our contract was violated. For example the times that he fined pilots for turning in expense accounts that he considered to be late. In addition Mr. Schy just sent you some correspondence on my grievance case which plainly points out contract violations. A little research should plainly reveal plenty of damagi ng evidence to be used against Janas in A hearing.

I hope our conversation of the other day and this letter may be of some help to you.

With kind regards, I am,

Sincerely yours,

Michael A. Gitt
