Dear Dave,

Enclosed please find the following: a copy of a greivance [[grievance]] that I just filed with our " young " Chief Pilot also a copy of a letter to our chairman suggesting that he take this greivance [[grievance]] off my hands since it is actually a contract violation and that is really within the scope of the Executive Council.

Breifly [[Briefly]] the nature of this greivance [[grievance]] is that the Chief Pilot extended a posted bid seven days beyond the original deadline date without giving any reason for so doing ( our contract does not allow for any such extension ). Upon questioning, he states that he did it because the men that bid within the original time limit were not the men he wanted to have the run, as he would have to train them. He did not want to spend any money for trainig [[training]]. He unofficially informed me that he wanted another individual to bid this run so that he could save the training expense. This individual finally did bid the run, after the deadline date and during the extended time period. Obviously Junior ( our Chief Pilot ) is now using our bidding section of our contract as a selection system.

I believe that we can win this [[grievance]]. The weak spot in our armor however is in the pilot members of the System Board of ADjustment [[Adjustment]]. Frankly we have very few pilots who are capable of doing a fair, unbiased job. Since we do not now have any pilots on the System Board of Adjustment May I ask for your cooperation when you select these people.

Trusting that you are in good health, with kindest regards, I am,

Sincerely yours,

Michael A. Gitt
