In regard to the report that we gave over Hudson Heights Fan Marker, all I can say is that at all times we were holding in the prescribed holding pattern West of Montreal. With the strong East winds that day, together with the problem of receiving oral Fan Marker signals over too great an area in our DC-4 equipment, it may be that in giving a position report of Hudson Heights, we did so unconsciously reacting to the oral signal being received at that time, without actually being over Hudson Heights. It also could be that marker switch was in high position. It is rather difficult for me to definitely know at this time.

For the record, I would like to state that to the best of my knowledge, throughout this entire flight, nothing was ever done to endanger the safety of our flight or any other flight in the area, and that at all times the aircraft was flown in accordance with the regulations of Canada, the United States and Colonial Airlines.

I have attempted to state in this letter as clearly and as simply as possible the facts of this flight as I remember them at this time. I have ten years of operating experience as a pilot with Colonial Airlines.

If I can be of further service, please do not hesitate to call on me.

Respectfully yours

MICHAEL A. GITT
