COLONIAL AIRLINES, INC.
TO: ALL PILOTS 30 Jan 1951

FROM: CHIEF PILOT

SUBJECT: SUMMARY OF NOTICES TO PILOTS-Jan 8th thru Jan 10th 1951

MBW (1-8-51)
[[underline]]Training Board[[/underline]]: A Training Board has been placed next to the Schedule Board. All instrument checks have been posted on it and it will be each pilot's responsibility to check himself off for such flights.

MBW (1-8-51)
[[underline]]Progress Reports[[/underline]]: Pilots are becoming extremely lax in turning in the monthly progress reports on first officers. It is very important that these reports be completed and submitted to this office. The 10th of each month will be the deadline and if all reports are not in by that time, disciplinary action will be taken.

GRJ (1-8-51)
[[underline]]Administrator's Regulation 620[[/underline]]: The subject regulations were issued to you as part of Operations Manual Revision No 50, to Operations Manual Volume I. It is felt that these regulations are self-explanatory, however I wish to emphasize the importance of notifying ATC of your position report just prior to entering the ADIZ, and your estimate of time of arrival over the first reporting point beyond the ADIZ. Flights operating between Syracuse, Massena and Ottawa should be careful to transmit their time off and estimated times of arrival promptly so that there will be sufficient time to inform the military prior to your penetration of the ADIZ in order to avoid interception by fighter aircraft. Ground stations have been informed of the vital importance that such position reports be relayed to ATC without delay. If for any reason you are unable to contact the company ground station, you are to attempt to contact a CAA communications station and supply them with the necessary information shown below:
1. Company & Flight No
2. Type of Aircraft
3. Departure time or time over first required DVFR reporting point
4. DVFR flight plan
5. Altitude
6. Route and destination
Example: Colonial 402 DC-4 over BTV 0900 7000 estimating Montreal 0925 7000 blue 4 green 1 Destination ON
The above procedure applies to DVFR Flights only. IFR flights are unaffected by Part 620.

GRJ (1-10-51)
[[underline]]DVRF Flight Plans[[/underline]]: This is a reminder that under Part 620 of the Administrator's Regulations, an altitude must be specified with all DVFR Flight Plans, and that under part 620.15 (a) sub-par (2), no deviation from the flight plan as filed shall be made unless [[underline]]prior[[/underline]] notification is given to an appropriate aeronautical facility.

GRJ (1-10-51)
[[underline]]Immigration Clearance - LGA[[/underline]]: Just a reminder that there are some Immigration Officers who are very strict and will not clear any passengers through Immigrations until the Captain has signed the Immigration form. Therefore, it is requested that all captains try to sign this form with the least possible delay.
